Why We Are in Bali

How Kilig Filipino restaurant in Bali started – Mlaspas

Opening a Filipino Restaurant in Bali was not just about introducing Filipino flavors to a new market; it was a deeply personal journey for us. We’ve long admired Bali for its strong sense of community, its respect for tradition, and its ability to blend the old and new seamlessly. These values align perfectly with what Filipino culture represents—family, togetherness, and food that brings people closer. Bali’s welcoming atmosphere gave us the perfect backdrop to create Kilig, a place where we could introduce the flavors of the Philippines while honoring the beauty and warmth of Balinese culture.

Being in Bali allows us to create a space where both locals and international visitors can explore the bold, soulful flavors of the Philippines. Our goal is to make every guest feel the joy and excitement that comes with every bite—a feeling that the word kilig perfectly captures. By bringing Filipino dishes like Adobo and Lechon to Bali, we hope to bridge cultures and create a sense of shared experience that resonates with everyone who steps into our restaurant.

The Food We Serve

At Kilig, food is at the heart of everything we do. We specialize in authentic Filipino dishes with a modern twist, bringing beloved flavors from our homeland to Bali. Two of the most iconic dishes we serve are Adobo and Lechon, both of which hold special places in the hearts of Filipinos around t

he world.

  • Adobo: Considered the unofficial national dish of the Philippines, Adobo is a flavorful stew made with meat marinated in vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, and spices. At Kilig, we offer different variations ofAdobo, including chicken, pork, and even mushroom Adobo for our plant-based guests. The balance of tangy, savory, and rich flavors makes Adobo a dish that’s both comforting and exciting—a perfect representation of Filipino food.
  • Lechon: Another star of our menu is Lechon, a dish that is synonymous with Filipino celebrations. Lechon is a roasted pork dish that’s crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It’s traditionally served during special occasions, but at Kilig, we believe every meal is a reasonto celebrate. Our Lechon Belly Sisig is a crowd favorite, offering a crunchy, savory, and spicy twist on this Filipino classic.

Aside from Adobo and Lechon, we offer a variety of other Filipino favorites such as Lumpia (spring rolls), Sinigang (a tamarind-based sour soup), and Kinilaw (a Filipino-style ceviche). Each dish is crafted with love and attention to detail, using fresh, local ingredients whenever possible. We want every meal at Kilig to be a memorable experience—one that leaves guests feeling uplifted and satisfied.
